🌿 December Musings | Studio Edition

December 2025

Hello my Creative Friend!

As the holiday season surrounds us in warm cozy light and the year comes to a close, I want to share with you an encouragement. To give yourself the gift of creativity this coming year. Don't know how? Don't worry, these letters will help.

✨ Reflection

Art has often been placed on a pedestal. We’re told it belongs in museums, framed behind glass, or created only by professionals with a gallery resume. But what if that isn’t the full truth? What if art actually begins much closer to home—in the kitchen, in the quiet corners of our notebooks, in the rhythm of a paintbrush across a cheap sketchpad?

This isn’t a new idea, though it feels radical in today’s rushed and curated world. Decades ago, philosopher John Dewey wrote about this very thing: that art isn’t separate from life.

Art is life, fully lived.

He believed that art grows out of everyday experiences and that the most powerful forms of creativity happen when we slow down enough to notice the beauty that’s already present.

And I believe this too.

If you’ve ever felt that craving to express something but didn’t know how, or if you've ever wished for more moments of peace and joy in the midst of a chaotic day, I want to invite you into a different way of thinking about art. You don’t have to be trained, polished, or even particularly “talented.” You just have to be willing to show up with a little curiosity and a lot of grace.

🖋️ A Prompt for You

Where does creativity already live in my everyday life?

Write about one small moment this past year where you felt present, joyfully absorbed, or creatively alive. It doesn’t need to be artistic, fancy or even long. Just a short pause to reflect.

🎨 Try This Creative Moment

Five Quiet Marks

Take any scrap of paper, notebook, or journal sheet. With a pen, pencil, or brush, make five slow, long marks.

Don’t plan them. Don’t correct them.

Notice the beauty and wonder of your hand. Enjoy the ability to move creatively.

🌸 Closing Thought

As this year comes to a close, I hope you’ll remember that creativity doesn’t require permission or perfection. It lives in small, faithful moments. When you pause and allow yourself to respond honestly to the day in front of you.

May the coming weeks offer you rest, clarity, and space to begin anew.

Until next time,
